Setting Up SendGrid as the Email Service Provider on Organon
Overview
This guide provides step-by-step instructions to configure SendGrid as the Email Service Provider (ESP) on Organon. By completing this setup, you will be able to send email campaigns, track their performance, and analyze engagement metrics such as delivery, open rates, and clicks within Organon.
Step 1: Authenticate Your Sending Domain
Domain authentication is essential for improving email deliverability and preventing emails from being flagged as spam.
Steps to Authenticate Your Domain:
Log in to SendGrid: Navigate to SendGrid Login.
Access Sender Authentication:
Go to Settings → Sender Authentication.
Under Authenticate Your Domain, click Get Started.
Select Your DNS Host: Choose your DNS provider (e.g., GoDaddy, Cloudflare).
Generate DNS Records:
SendGrid will provide the required DNS records:
SPF Record: Authorizes SendGrid to send emails on behalf of your domain.
DKIM Record: Ensures email integrity and verifies authenticity.
DMARC Record (Optional): Adds additional domain protection.
Update Your DNS Records:
Log in to your domain registrar or DNS management tool.
Add the provided DNS records:
SPF: Add a TXT record with the SPF value.
DKIM: Add CNAME records for each DKIM entry.
Verify Your Domain:
Return to the Sender Authentication page in SendGrid.
Click Verify.
DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours. Once completed, your domain status will be updated.
Step 2: Obtain a SendGrid API Key
To integrate SendGrid with Organon, you need to generate an API Key.
Steps to Generate an API Key:
Log in to SendGrid: Navigate to SendGrid Login.
Go to API Key Settings:
Click on Settings → API Keys.
Create a New API Key:
Click Create API Key.
Assign a name to the API Key.
Select Full Access permissions.
Click Create & View.
Copy and Store the API Key:
Copy the API Key immediately as it will not be displayed again.
Store it securely.
Step 3: Configure SendGrid in Organon
Once you have the API Key, integrate it within the Organon platform.
Steps to Integrate SendGrid in Organon:
Log in to Organon.
Navigate to Integrations:
Go to Settings → Integrations.
Set Up SendGrid:
Click Set Up Integration under Email Service Provider Configuration.
Select SendGrid from the list.
Enter the API Key in the provided field.
Click Save to complete the setup.
Step 4: Configure the Webhook URL in SendGrid
A webhook is required to track email events such as delivery, opens, and clicks.
Steps to Set Up the Webhook:
Copy the Webhook URL from Organon.
Log in to SendGrid and go to Settings → Mail Settings.
Set Up the Event Webhook:
Click on Event Webhook.
Paste the copied Webhook URL into the HTTP Post URL field.
Enable the following events:
Sent
Delivered
Opened
Clicked
Unsubscribed
Bounced:
Soft Bounce
Hard Bounce
Spam Complaint
Click Save to complete the setup.
Verification and Testing
Send a Test Email:
Go to Email Campaigns in Organon.
Create a test campaign and send an email to yourself.
Check the SendGrid Dashboard:
Verify if the email appears under Activity.
Monitor Webhook Events:
Navigate to SendGrid → Event Webhook Logs to check event triggers.
Troubleshooting
Authentication Failed? Ensure DNS records are correctly added and have propagated.
Emails Not Sending? Verify the API Key and ensure full access permissions are enabled.
Webhook Events Not Appearing? Check the Webhook URL and confirm event tracking is enabled.
